During my preparation for CAT 2009, I was solving some comprehension questions the other day. I usually read the entire passage first and then proceed on to answer the questions. But I tried reading the questions first, then read the passage and then answer the questions. Astonishingly, it drastically improved my speed because knowing the questions beforehand allowed me to omit reading huge portions from the text. By omitting I do not mean completely ignoring the said part. Instead, you will end up giving it a very quick reading. So you'll know what subject the author has referred to in that omitted part but will not waste any time. Knowing what the author is talking about in the omitted part allows you to come back to it and read it in case you feel some question refers to it on detailed examination of the questions after you finish reading.
