What will my generation boast about?

Previous generations always impress me so much, especially when it comes to movies, music, books etc. There was so much during the previous generations in these fields that still constitutes a large part of today's choice and preference. Even now, as I am writing this post, the song High Hopes by Pink Floyd is playing. No matter how much I listen to Pink Floyd I cannot get enough.
Let's examine each field one by one. When it comes to music we had (and still listen to) Pink Floyd, Beatles, Led Zeppelin, ACDC, Frank Sinatra just to name a few. I am sure I have forgotten some artist. Compared to these, which music artists from today's generation are capable enough of lasting an apocalypse? I guess Metallica and GnR achieved that status in metal and rock. In pop music I guess Lady Gaga can do it but she isnt there just yet. Rap, hip-hop etc. are new genres and I dont think any of their artists are gonna be remembered for more than a week or so XD.
We have a fair match in movies. We have Star Wars (which very well lasted into this generation, actually), Godfather, Alien, The Shining etc. (and many more) are the old ones. Today gave us Lord of the Rings(possibly the biggest one), The Matrix, Fight Club, Pulp Fiction, Shawshank Redemption, Wall-E and so many more. So we can say the film industry has matured and learnt better from previous generations than the music industry.
I don't read too many old books but I do, however, know some names like Lord of the Rings, Godfather, To Kill a Mockingbird, Catcher in the Rye etc. In answer, today we have Harry Potter, The da Vinci Code, The Alchemist, The Kite Runner etc. So maybe the match is fair in books also.
But in any case, older ones always seem to command more respect and awe. I mean no one comes close to Pink Floyd today. No movie can beat the Star Wars in attracting geeks. And obviously, there never will ever be a book like the LOTR whose concepts will be borrowed in games, movies, other books etc. Maybe the kind of respect that the older ones command comes only with age!
