Advantage of Java over Symbian

I use Nokia 5800 and I realised something yesterday. When one codes a Symbian application it has to be OS specific like my phone uses s60v5 so applications coded for s60v3 wont work on my phone. Java, on the other hand, does not depend on the operating system. This is a result of the Java platform that applications use which is common over the phones. In fact if an application coded in Java for a phone with no touchscreen will still work on a touchscreen phone. The navigation keys are automatically shown on the screen which replace the ones on the keypad.
