Sometimes my CD/DVD drive tray does not open after pressing the eject button. Sometimes it just gets stuck after coming out about 2mm or so.
The reason behind this is that when the drive has been under use for some time it heats up. This heat causes some of its components to expand. This expansion eventually changes its dimensions such that the tray gets blocked while opening. Essentially the result of poor design. I use an LG drive. Do not know if other drives have the same problem as well.

did u have this problem since the beginning? i think not. Its just wear and tear. In my laptop the problem was caused by a cable sticking at the bottom.
