Conventions

As we all know convention is a certain method of doing something followed widely. It can also be a belief. I, for one, enjoy going against conventions a lot. I love challenging something that is believed and followed widely. One reason is my strong belief that a change is necessary for improvement. Had our ancestors never tried to challenge the then existent system of beliefs, or as our current subject is - conventions, then the world would have been static and without improvement. Furthermore I also like going against conventions because then I am in unknown territory full of possibilities. It gives me so many opportunities to make mistakes. Mistakes which have infinite knowledge and the power to change & teach.

Sure it's fun but I have come to learn that not all the established conventions are obsolete or in need of alteration. These conventions are popular for a reason. It is because they save you a lot of trouble. There have been numerous instances in the past when I regretted challenging some conventions and ended up saying to myself,"I should have done what everyone else does..."
But then treading the less traveled path is always tough just like it is tougher to do the right thing.

Also, it is really fun to see people's reaction when you do something different. They're like "is he out of his mind?" or "why would anyone do that?". Even more fun is their reaction upon witnessing your unexpected success with what you were doing in a different manner.

All this talk reminds me of the popular saying:-

Great minds do not do different things...they just do things differently.

One may also say that challenging all conventions at all times will lead to lawlessness aand chaos....
