flipkart Review on pre-order

I recently pre-ordered Portal 2 for PC on flipkart. My first pre-order actually. I was and still am of the impression that one pre-orders an item because one wants to ensure that when the item is released, access to it is not limited by the item being out-of-stock and thus having the item in one's own hands the day or the day next to its release date. Well, not what I got from flipkart.
I am not saying flipkart is the only inefficient online store on the internet. In fact, flipkart is one of the only few good ones in India. However, this fact does excuse it from substandard quality.

While disparate pricing seems to be taken care of in India, supply chain management definitely requires more attention. Game was released 5 days ago and flipkart still gives me no shipping date, let alone being able to play the game. flipkart is clearly not going to be my choice for buying games which I would want right away. It has lost a customer because it has taken the essence of "PRE-ORDER" away. The main purpose of pre-ordering something is that you get it right away when it releases. flipkart severely fails to deliver on than.

Furthermore, the DVD I received was heavily scratched which could point to mishandling or even worse - to usage of the CD prior to packing. Both are very likely and equally unacceptable. I am not sure I am going to order a game from flipkart again unless I see positive deliveries with my own eyes. Until then I suppose I will resort to many of the other dealers available on the internet.
